I create lively art to help people share stories, give products personality, and translate thoughts into colorful illustrations.
Bio
Before I had the word “illustrator” in my vocabulary, 6-year-old me was just having fun drawing along with her Saturday morning cartoons. As an only child, I learned independence and was good at entertaining myself. I would get lost making things, using every crayon in the box to create my own little worlds filled with imaginary characters and color. I’ve always been an observer and it’s through the art of noticing that I get my inspiration.
I’m inspired by human resilience, deep feelings, nature, traveling, food, and the city that surrounds me in my Detroit studio. Creating art helps me to document moments and connects me to others. I make my art using a combination of colored pencils, paint, ink, and regular office supplies. Sticking with traditional materials connects me to my younger self and helps me stay honest to my natural illustration style. Through experience, I’ve crafted an art practice that combines digital tools with hand-drawn art allowing me the joy of working with tactile art supplies and the ability to deliver quality creative for client projects.
Education & Experience
I majored in illustration and received my Bachelor of Fine Art with honors from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Over the last decade, I’ve worked in the advertising industry as an art director and illustrator. I’ve developed my skillset across multiple mediums including, digital, print, shopper marketing, promotions, and events. I’ve collaborated with amazing creative teams at ad agencies including, Goodby Silverstein & Partners, Global Team Blue, HUGE, and the Mars Agency on national and global brands like Chevrolet, FIAT, Ford, and Lagunitas.
